Design lines which are (1) cost-conscious and efficient, (2) acceptable to meet the needs of the membership and which (3) conform to all applicable federal, state and local requirements. Survey and stake lines for electrical service both underground and overhead for individuals and subdivisions, including redesigning existing line from overhead to underground or relocating overhead lines. Calculate the cost of construction to be accomplished. Coordinate with consumers the maintenance of right of way before line construction begins and coordinate utility easement. Draw work orders for new electric service, system improvements, line extensions, etc. Calculate loads and clearances. During major storms and outages assists linemen supervisors or crew to restore service. Respond to calls and concerns about new services, upgrades and inspections.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Must know electrical theory. Must possess both oral and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license required. Ability to operate cable locator, transit and personal computer. Must be able to walk long distances, drive stakes, hammer and probe conduit depths.
Must travel to workshops in order to improve skills and stay abreast of new procedures and technologies. Subject to call out during adverse weather conditions or other emergencies.
