The New Product Firmware Software Engineer has the opportunity to develop control and sensor electronics for new high power industrial lasers to add to Novanta’s industry-leading photonics product lineup. This position is part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team with Novanta’s Synrad business based in Mukilteo, WA.
The NPI Firrmware Software Engineer is responsible for the firmware and software that run on the control and sensor electronics. The engineer will interface with electrical, FPGA, laser, and mechanical engineers to understand control, safety, regulatory, and performance requirements of the system. This position will be responsible for practicing best practices, continuous improvement, and contributing to a winning team culture.
BSc (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (MSEE preferred)
Practical 3-5 years’ experience in an engineering environment as an engineer or manager
Demonstrated ability take design from concept to production
Experience with embedded C/C++ development on MCUs
Experience using version control (subversion, git, etc)
Ability to read basic mixed signal schematics
Experience managing embedded Linux build (petalinux on Xilinx SoCs preferred)
Design of custom AXI peripherals
Experience with the following considered a plus:
