The Department of Physics & Astronomy at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty position. The research area is open and may complement and expand our current expertise in astrophysics and optics/photonics, or broaden our research portfolio into biophysics, biophotonics, atmospheric physics, or related fields. Both experimental and theoretical areas will be considered.
Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics or closely related field. The candidate is expected to establish and maintain a vigorous research program with external funding, involve both graduate and undergraduate students in research, and be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and in service to the university and research community.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for joint research, educational projects, and collaborations within the department, college, university, and the local high-tech community. Opportunities for research collaborations exist in UAH’s Research Centers, the neighboring NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, the HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology, Redstone Arsenal, and several other non-profit, government, and industrial partners located in Cummings Research Park, the Huntsville/Madison/Decatur area, and the region.
