Intern – Summer 2020 Design Enablement & RF Modeling – GLOBALFOUNDRIES – Essex Junction, VT

Summary of Role:

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Design Enablement Team is seeking a talented and motivated engineering intern to join the World-wide Modeling organization supporting SiGe BiCMOS, RF- CMOS, RF – SOI, Silicon Photonics Semiconductor Technologies for high performance applications in the growing mobile and wireless, automotive, and computing and wired industries.

GLOBALFOUNDRIES is seeking a self-driven, motivated student to develop automation & model quality tools to enhance model to hardware correlation for Radio Frequency (RF) and mm-Wave integrated circuit (IC) designs using a variety of programming languages and state-of-the-art test equipment.

The applicant will be a member of an established technical team, driven by collaborative innovation and creative problem solving, and will operate under the direction and supervision of a lead engineer.

Essential Responsibilities & Skills:

Background in Analog, RF and/or mm-wave circuit design and simulation.

Experience working with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, including Layout vs Schematics (LVS) and Parasitic Extraction (PEX).

Understanding of high-frequency measurement systems to characterize RF/mm-wave ICs.

Programming skills to automate complex model to hardware correlation of IC designs

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications :

Education – B.Sc. student in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer Engineering

Direct Current (DC) and Scattering-parameter measurement theory & techniques

Fundamentals in programming languages such as Matlab, Perl, Python or equivalent

Effective communication skills, both written & verbal Preferred Qualifications:

M.Sc. student on PhD track in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer Engineering

Non-linear measurements theory and on wafer de-embedding techniques

Theoretical knowledge and experience using Electro-Magnetic simulation tools

Strong Mathematical skills

Semiconductor Device Physics
