Job Description
Lumentum is seeking a
bright, motivated individual to contribute to the development of a variety of
highly-innovative and market-leading high power single-mode and multi-mode
semiconductor lasers for telecom, industrial and consumer applications.
Opto-Mechanical design of
fiber-optic pump packages and components for use in commercial and
telecommunication systems
Mechanical design of
fixture/tooling and equipment for fiber-optic component manufacturing
Generate conceptual design,
layout, prototyping, bill of materials, piece part and assembly drawings
Interact with vendors for piece
parts specification, procurement, and quality assurance
Select vendors and complete
first article qualification
Document engineering reports,
engineering drawings, and equipment design specifications
Requirements
Expertise in opto-mechanical
design (SolidWorks) for developing Telecom and/or commercial laser
products is preferred
Expertise in mechanical design
for high precision automation system / manufacturing equipment is
preferred
Experience in material
selection/specifications, relating to soldering, metallization, ceramics,
epoxy, optical fiber and other components
Experience in mechanical design
of fixture/tooling
Experience in drafting and
geometrical tolerance and dimensioning of drawings
Experience in performing
structural and thermal finite element analysis desirable
Excellent communication skills
are needed to contribute effectively in cross-functional teams
Familiarity with fiber optics
is desirable
Education should be MS/PhD in
mechanical engineering or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience in
mechanical design
US citizenship or
permanent residency preferred
