This position will involve working as an R&D engineer for the Photonics Integration team.
Responsibilities
Design for Manufacture/Test/Quality/Reliability for optical sub-assemblies
Test of opto-electronic components and sub systems (small signal analysis NVA/LCA, wideband BER, scope, AWG measurements, noise/distortion loading, DWDM testbed)
Coordinate design with optical, mechanical, digital, firmware and software engineers to reach interface and packaging objectives.
Write component and sub system specifications and review vendor specifications
Work with vendors on driving product roadmap and specifications
Simulate optical components and systems
Perform Design Verification Testing of optical components and modules
Knowledge of coherent transmission and testing up to 64QAM and 64Gbaud
Demonstrated ability to complete the full product design life cycle on a portion of the system involving multiple components.
Capable of working independently on the assigned design activities with minimal supervision.
Comprehensive understanding of the product architecture, design, processes, tools, etc. required to perform their assigned design activities.
Operating at the equivalent of an engineer with 5 plus years of relevant experience.
Provide internal input into NPI, manufacturing, quality, Operations and Sales
Identify and mitigate project risks
Knowledge of optical packaging, assembly and test of high speed RF/optical components
Requirements
BS or MS in electrical engineering or Physics.
Design and development of optical modules and sub-assemblies
Flex PCBs, BGA packages and microstrip design/fabrication
Testing expertize in optical modules and sub-assemblies
Proficiency in writing technical specifications.
Knowledge of optical component reliability and telecom performance standards such as Telcordia, IEC, and ITU are highly desirable
Experience in fiber optics test and measurements
Experience writing scripts for test automation
