The Laser Applications Technician is a hands-on role with the industry leader of state-of-the-art fiber lasers and laser processing equipment. This is an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team and customers on a daily basis assisting them with their industrial laser cutting and welding applications.
Duties:
• Responsible for setting up and operating lasers to perform cutting and welding operations for a variety of internal and customer’s needs
• Demonstration and applications processing development at IPG locations, customer locations, trade shows and conferences. Up to 15% travel
• Responsible for ensuring part quality, using customer prints and electronic files and inspection equipment
• Documentation of test results in electronic reports with MS Office
• Receive materials, organize inventory and job requests
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations
• Responsible for maintenance and development of lab equipment
• Support of development activities, sales support and customer applications development
Requirements
• HS diploma or GED required
• Associates degree – Electronics, Electro-Mech, Electro-Optic, Engineering, a plus
• 3-5 years’ experience in similar role
• Background in electronics, machine or manufacturing technology
• Experience with CNC or robotic system programming
• Previous laser and laser applications experience required
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel up to 15%
