Huawei, North American Research is seeking candidates with strong development experience in optical communications, access networks, and associated technologies. This position is based out of Bridgewater, NJ. The individual will be involved in developing new PON systems, and to refine existing PON systems, focusing on the design and optimization of opto-electronic and electronic components.
Research and development of photonic technologies for broadband optical access networks
Design, development and simulation of photonic components and/or optical transceivers
Development of test plans, execution of subsystem and component tests and documentation of measurement results
Collaboration with electrical, firmware and mechanical engineers on system integration and proof-of-concept implementation of Next Generation passive optical networks
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics, with 10+ years of industry experience, in the area of research and development of photonic technologies for broadband optical access networks.
Hands on experience in design, development in photonic components and/or optical transceivers
Energetic, flexible and positive attitude; strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
Excellent communication and team working skills – ability to work in a diverse and dynamic research group and ability to present data and ideas to a diverse audience are expected
Proficiency in optical component design and simulation
R&D experience on uncooled 10Gb/s DFB lasers and/or 10Gb/s APDs preferred
Experience with test and measurement of fiber-optic components
Knowledgeable in system performance and network architecture of passive optical network
Familiar with high-speed analog electronics or digital design is a big plus.
