Assistant Scientist, Experimental Attosecond AMO Science

The Institute for the Frontier of Attosecond Science and Technology (iFAST) invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure earning assistant scientist position in experimental attosecond AMO science. The successful candidate will be expected to make significant contributions to the efforts in developing the next generation attosecond light sources. Candidates must have a substantial record of research in femtosecond high power lasers, mid-infrared chirped pulse optical parametric amplifiers, attosecond x-ray pulse generation, characterization and applications. iFAST is dedicated to research, education and outreach of attosecond physics and optics. Its mission is to provide unique opportunities for faculty, scientists and students to closely collaborate on attosecond science research. The University of Central Florida is a leading, fast growing, metropolitan, research-intensive university with a diverse student body of more than 64,000 students. The Department of Physics currently has 48 faculty members, offers B.S., B. A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, and has recently moved into a state-of-the-art research building. Research programs include condensed matter physics, surface physics, nanoscience, soft condensed matter, planetary science, biological physics, atomic and optical physics, quantum information processing, and physics education. There are opportunities to benefit from synergy with the College of Optics and Photonics, the Nanoscience Technology Center, the Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center, the Biomolecular Sciences Center, and a new College of Medicine. Position Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required.
