As the NPI Product Engineer you will be the spearhead of new product introductions for Lumentum’s 100G client side transmission modules. Starting from early stage of the product, you will work with design team to define and examine the key specifications and requirements for Lumentum’s most advanced 100G products, specifically design for manufacturability, cost, and reliability. You will be the lead to solve the major issues in ramp up activities including yield improvement, production scaling up, cost reduction, and cycle time reduction. You will be the lead to drive the activities associated with enabling product variants into manufacturing stage.
Additional responsibilities will include managing the bill of materials, process document control, test plans. The focus will be on activities to support ramping newly developed products into volume production and coordinating efforts between R&D team and Operations.
In this job you will:
Define production requirements and specifications
Support BOMs and process document control
Review DFX, including manufacturability, cost, and reliability
Interface with local design team
Communicate with off-shore product engineering teams
Production Test Planning:
Define and/or validate production test requirements
Drive pilot builds and pre-production forecasts into Operations
Verify pilot-production test data (DVT and PVT)
Review and validate product cost targets
Track performance to plan
1-2 years of technical experience in long-haul optical communication systems and/or components.
1 year experience with high speed optical transceivers.
3+ years of technical engineering experience (launching complex transmission components or fiber-optic modules).
Willingness and ability to have calls/meetings with multiple time zones.
Minimum of 1 year experience with Product Lifecycle Management.
1 year experience with launching complex transmission products (components or modules) to high volume manufacturing
History of successfully solving technical questions and resolving issues remotely.
Familiarity with SONET/SDH and Ethernet applications is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong computer, analytical skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
100G experience is highly desired.
