Job Description
As an
RD Manager-Optical Receivers you will manage and lead a small
multi-disciplinary RD team that designs Lumentum’s next-generation
client-side fiber optic receivers (100Gb/s, 400Gb/s). Responsibilities will
include but are not limited to:
Technical ownership of client-side receiver products
Management of key members of client-side receiver team
Provide technical leadership and direction to
packaging, reliability, and photonic integrated circuit design engineers
to overcome development challenges and enable fast-paced new product introduction
from initial concept through reliability and qualification.
Interface with customer to understand and/or negotiate
high level performance requirements
Translate high level performance requirements into
component architecture and detailed specifications for integrated optical
devices, package optics and RF transmission characteristics. Derive
appropriate trade-offs to minimize development time and risk.
Analyze test data to confirm performance
validation. Identify design limitations and provide direction for
design refinement and yield improvement
Requirements
Ph.D. in EE/Physics or equivalent
Master’s Degree in EE/Physics with sufficient work
experience will also be considered
Minimum 5 years of experience in optical component
product development or equivalent
Management experience of RD design teams a plus
Proficiency in optical device characterization
including sensitivity, S-parameters
Detailed knowledge of optical devices for photonic
integrated circuits including photodiodes, waveguides, Mach-Zehnder
interferometers, and AWGs a plus
Experience in Silicon Photonics design is a plus
Familiarity with RF design and test is a plus
Familiarity with transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) is a
plus
Proficiency in JMP, Minitab, or similar and familiarity
with statistical analysis and design-of-experiments is a plus
Proficiency in design for failure mode effects analysis
or risk management is a plus
Familiarity with higher-order modulation schemes for
optical communications (PAM4, DP-QPSK, 16-QAM) is a plus
Team player, self-directed, with strong oral and
written communication skills
