City College is a unit of the City University of New York, and houses its Engineerng School. The position is in the Optical Remote Sensing Lab of the Electrical Engineering Department.
D E S C R I P T I O N
There is an immediate opening at the Research Associate level at the Optical Remote Sensing Laboratory at the City College of the City University of New York in Optical Sensing and Sensor Development in the Mid-Infrared (3-13 micron) range.
Candidates should have familiarity and expertise in one or more of these areas: Infrared spectroscopy, infrared radiative transfer, remote sensing, infrared instrument design and development, and application of Quantum Cascade lasers.
Duties will include research in IR sensor and model development, analysis and retirevals from sensor measurements, graduate and undergraduate student mentoring, participation in laboratory and field experiments, and preparation of manuscripts, report, and proposals for external funding.
R E Q U I R E M E N T S
- A PhD in a relevant science or engineering field with a combination of experimental, modeling, numerical simulation experience in IR optical sensors and their applications. Experience with Quantum Cascade lasers a big plus. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work and interact withcolleagues and students.
